iBooks & Stanza: Novel Ways of Reading Books

iBooks is an application made by Apple for iOS devices like the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.  It is an amazing way to download and read books.  iBooks includes the iBookstore, a book catalogue where users can download the latest best-selling books or favorite classics – day or night.

The app itself is free but the books are for sale. Check out this video to see iBooks in action using an iPad.

Stanza, by Lexcycle, is another great free ebook application for iOS devices. Users can download from a vast selection of over 100,000 books and periodicals, and read them right straight from their iPhone or iPad. It’s a wireless electronic library that stays open 24/7.

Stanza makes it easy for users to move documents and books between devices. To transfer an ebook or a document from a computer, users can move them onto Stanza by dragging the files into iTunes on a Mac or PC and it will automatically sync.

Here’s a video demonstration of how Stanza works on the iPhone.

  1. I’m a Stanza fan and I didn’t know that you can now transfer a file from the desktop to devices running on iOS 3.2 by simply dragging it into iTunes before syncing. I’m a little envious because I have Version 3.1.3 and will have to continue using Stanza Desktop.

  2. Stanza is one of the reasons why I’m saving up for an iPod Touch. :)
